Details: A very cute little bear clutching a single flower sits upright on his haunches to form this bank with a rich brown Rockingham/Bennington glaze. He appears to be very happy, having a "bear smile" on his face. "2559 JL" is impressed in the clay on the bottom of the bank. Judging from the subject, style and workmanship, I would attribute the work to one of the German or Austrian pottery makers. He resembles the Black Forest wooden carved bears. Having survived for over 100 years, there's a good chance that the bear started life as a salesman sample from a canvassing kit that was carried from household to household for potential customers to view.
Dimensions: 5" high X 2.25" wide X 2.5" front to back
Condition: Very good -- there are a few tiny pops in the glaze that happened during the firing process. Only the imperfections on the nose and upper lip are noticeable. No chips, cracks or other damage from usage.
Shipping: The bank will be shipped via USPS Priority mail with insurance. Check below the picture for the domestic shipping charge. International customers, please inquire about availability and cost of insured shipping to your location.
