WATER LILIES. What a magnificent antique hand painted LIMOGES WATER LILY PLATE or Art Plaque this is, completely and masterfully handpainted, circa 1900, and signed by a Julius Brauer Art Studio artist with the initials: 'F.A.C.' This is one of the most beautiful vintage handpaintings of WATERLILIES which we have seen. Please note the birds, clouds and blue sky in the background, and the reflective lights and sapphire blues in the water beneath the white lily flowers and floating lily pads. This is the masterful artwork of a very well-renowned professional art studio in Chicago around the Turn-of-the-Century c.1900. It is truly an exquisite example of early American china painting on fine French Haviland Limoges porcelain.

8-5/8" diameter Plate. Excellent condition, with some minor 'loving wear' to the gold along the edge, but which does not interfere at all with the perfect condition of the china painted artwork. Bears a 'Limoges France' underglaze pottery hallmark in green, and a faded but visible Julius Brauer Art Studio overglaze backstamp in red.
