~Rosenquist Art-Porcelains~ many exquisite 'One-of-a-Kind' Masterpieces Handpainted over a Century ago by Victorian Artists
ANTIQUE LIMOGES LARGE 9-3/4" PLATE
'SAPPHIRE BLUE & LAVENDER VICTORIAN VIOLETS'.Like a welcoming breath of Springtime, this is a refreshing and masterfully hand painted antique Haviland Limoges Floral Art Plate, circa 1900, completely handpainted by a talented late 19th Century American Victorian Period porcelain artist, or early 20th Century Edwardian Era china painter, who signed her lovely painting of woodland violets: "M. FISCHER"
This vintage floral composition is graceful, with a balanced blend of both positive and negative spaces, and the violets are very well painted, with lovely purple striping on the petals. The delicate background wash is a subtle blend of soft lavender clouds with hints of cream and mint green. The raised-relief edge of the plate has been elegantly highlighted with coin gold. The artful Victorians certainly were masters of romance, and this 100+ year old French plate captures the sentiment exactly with its dreamy and peaceful air, and with sapphire blue tones rarely seen in china paintings of violets.
Excellent condition. Sterling investment quality vintage Art-Porcelain, with the Coin Gold in pristine condition and with the china painting perfectly preserved within a lustrous glass overglaze finish. Tapped with our china tester pin, it rings crystal clear like a bell. VERY LARGE 9-3/4" Diameter ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED LIMOGES VIOLETS PLATE or FLORAL DECORATIVE ARTS FRENCH CHARGER. Bears a "HAVILAND FRANCE" pottery underglaze hallmark in green, used by the world famous 19th Century porcelain company of Limoges France.
WHAT IS LIMOGES? The Rosenquist Collection is often asked this question by visitors who are yet unfamiliar with this beautiful old artform upon vintage French porcelain. Over the last several generations, exquisitely hand painted porcelains became a somewhat forgotten artform, which is now gaining a world-wide appreciative audience once again, and is becoming very highly collectible as an arts & antiques investment. The key to investment success, and also to acquiring the most beautiful collection, is to only invest in the very highest quality of artwork available, and to avoid anything less. This, in the long run, will give the greatest return on investment, as is true with all art and collectibles investments. Inferior quality investments may cost less, but they always appreciate much less as well.
