~Rosenquist Art-Porcelains~ many exquisite 'One-of-a-Kind' Masterpieces Handpainted over a Century ago by Victorian Artists
'LAVENDER VIOLETS & FRENCH SCROLLS' c.1899. A delicate 19th Century Victorian floral still life composition..... upon a century-old antique hand painted Limoges Floral Art Dresser Tray w scalloped fluted edges, completely handpainted by a late 19th Century American Victorian Period china artist, or porcelain painter. This is a Jean Pouyat Limoges Tray, a lady's boudoir vanity mold, with charming handpainted French Rococo Style scrollwork, including lovely criss-cross hatchwork typical of the 1890s period. The design of the tray itself is classic, and the china painting is exemplary...a perfect combination of beautiful elements!
With the creative addition of dark sage green scrolls and crosshatching with white enamel dot highlights, this very pretty heirloom quality violets painting on a feminine scalloped dresser tray is beautiful and unique. The foliage behind the violets is a very soft sage green, and the shadowy blooms and leaves in the background are superbly painted. Slight 'echoes' of the crosshatch detail are found in the gold filigree on this tray, tying the composition together in a subtle and elegant manner. This would be a perfect piece for a solarium or boudoir, adding a soft touch of fanciful elements and summery color.
Excellent condition, sterling investment quality Art-Porcelain, with the Coin Gold gilded edges and scrollwork intact, and with the china painting itself in pristine condition, perfectly preserved within a lustrous glass overglaze finish. When tapped with our porcelain tester pin, the china rings crystal clear like a bell! LARGE 12-1/4" x 8" ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED LIMOGES DRESSER TRAY or VIOLETS FLORAL DECORATIVE ARTS TEA TRAY. Bears a JPL France pottery underglaze hallmark in green of the world famous Jean Pouyat Company of Limoges, France.
