~Rosenquist Art-Porcelains~ many exquisite 'One-of-a-Kind' Masterpieces Handpainted over a Century ago by Victorian Artists
'BLUE FORGET-ME-NOTS & FRENCH SCROLLS'. This is a darling antique hand painted Bavarian Floral Art Plate, with delicate white moriage enamel work details, circa 1900, completely handpainted with dainty blue forget-me-not flowers by a talented late 19th Century American Victorian Period china painter, or early 20th Century Edwardian Era porcelain artist.
This is one of the happiest and well-painted forget-me-nots plates we have seen. With a wreath of blue flowers and deep green foliage arranged against a sky-blue border, the multitude of varying shades of blue in this piece is extremely eye-catching, and the use of small spots of soft cocoa brown is used to great advantage to highlight the blues. The bouquet forms a wreath of blooms and blue scrollwork, connected like a necklace by the daintiest of raised enamel floral detailing, and the creamy center of the plate provides the perfect backdrop for this beautiful spray of one of Springtime's favorite flowers. With its raised 'moriage' and swirling brushstrokes of the blue scrolls, we are reminded a bit by this lovely plate of an oil painting. The three-dimensional quality it has makes it an especially appealing addition to a varied floral porcelain art display.
Excellent condition, sterling quality Art-Porcelain, with the burnished Coin Gold gilded edge perfectly intact, and with the century-old china painting in pristine condition, perfectly preserved within a lustrous glass overglaze finish. When tapped with our china tester pin, it rings crystal clear like a bell! 7-3/4" Diameter ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED BAVARIAN FORGET-ME-NOTS PLATE, FLORAL DECORATIVE ARTS AFTERNOON TEA DISH. Bears a JOSEPHINE BAVARIAN pottery underglaze hallmark in green. This is made of European 'hard paste' porcelain of similar high quality to the 'hard paste' porcelain produced in Limoges, France during this period. 'Hard paste' porcelain does not to 'craze' with age, as does 'soft paste' porcelain and English bone china.
