CLIMBING PINK ROSES OLD VICTORIAN CAKE PLATE. This is a delightful antique hand painted Limoges Floral Art Cake Plate, or Open-Handled Charger, circa 1900, completely handpainted and signed by its artist: 'MRS. G.H. BORK', who was a talented late 19th Century American Victorian Period china painter, or early 20th Century Edwardian Era porcelain artist.

It was said in Victorian times that no evil spirits could pass through a rose arch.....and this lovely curve of climbing pink roses is certainly enough to keep any away. Like a profusely blooming summertime arbor, there seems an endless supply of blossoms on this simple yet elegant oxbow-handled, gold-edged cake plate. Painted against a pastel background of silver blue and buttercream, this beautiful pink spray looks to be the perfect guardian of whatever may lie beyond it's embracing curl.

Excellent condition, sterling investment quality French Art-Porcelain, with burnished Coin Gold gilding intact, and with the century-old china painting beautifully preserved within a lustrous glass overglaze finish. LARGE 10-3/4" Diameter ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED LIMOGES CAKE PLATE or FLORAL DECORATIVE ARTS OPEN-HANDLED CHARGER w CLIMBING BABY TEA ROSES. Bears a T&V LIMOGES FRANCE pottery underglaze hallmark in green.
