~Rosenquist Art-Porcelains~ many exquisite 'One-of-a-Kind' Masterpieces Handpainted over a Century ago by Victorian Artists
HEIRLOOM TEA ROSES ~ RESEMBLING A SUBLIME PORCELAIN ART WATERCOLOR ~ A most graceful and masterfully hand painted antique Limoges Floral Fine Art Plate, circa 1900, completely and exquisitely handpainted by a superbly talented late 19th Century American Victorian Period china painter, or early 20th Century Edwardian Era porcelain artist. Painted with great sensitivity and artistic balance, this antique Limoges roses composition is sheer perfection.....
These roses' petals are so delicately painted, they look paper-thin and nearly transparent as they open against the pastel 'sky' of this plate's background. The stems are painted in a tangled zigzag of thorns and foliage, creating a distinct wildness behind the bold colors of these beautiful blooms. With no defined border to this plate except for the scalloping of its gilded edge, these roses seem to be hovering in the mist, reaching out of their tangled thicket towards the sun. The powder blue center of this piece is a perfect compliment to both the roses' rubies and pinks, and also to the pale yellow of the outer part of the plate. A very airy and striking painting by an extremely talented 19th Century porcelain artist.
Excellent condition. Sterling investment quality fine Art-Porcelain, with Coin Gold gilded edges intact and with the century-old china painting perfectly preserved within a lustrous glass overglaze finish. 8-1/2" VINTAGE FRENCH LIMOGES FLORAL FINE ART PLATE. Bears a FRANCE pottery underglaze hallmark in green.
'WHAT IS LIMOGES?' The Rosenquist Collection is often asked this question by visitors who are yet unfamiliar with this beautiful old artform upon vintage French porcelain. Over the last several generations, exquisitely hand painted porcelains became a somewhat forgotten artform, which is now gaining a world-wide appreciative audience once again, and is becoming very highly collectible as an arts & collectibles investment. The key to investment success, and also to acquiring the most beautiful collection, is to only invest in the very highest quality of artwork available, and to avoid anything less. This, in the long run, will give the greatest return on investment, as is true with all art and antiques investments. Inferior quality investments may cost less, but they always appreciate much less as well.
