~Rosenquist Art-Porcelains~ many exquisite 'One-of-a-Kind' Masterpieces Handpainted over a Century ago by Victorian Artists
DELICATE GARLAND of LAVENDER VIOLETS circa 1895-1905
19th CENTURY FRENCH ROCOCO VIOLETS. This is so very reminiscent of the delicate painting style of 19th Century Old Master floral porcelain artist and art professor George Leykauf, although it is unsigned. Nonetheless, we are unwilling to attribute it to Mr. Leykauf himself, as the goldwork is slightly heavier than was his style which was 'exceedingly' thin and delicate, although this goldwork is nonetheless exquisite! We feel it may have been china painted by one of his more advanced art students, who was obviously heavily influenced by Leykauf's style. An antique hand painted Limoges Floral Fine Art Plate, circa 1900, completely and expertly handpainted by a late 19th Century Victorian Period porcelain artist, or early 20th Century Edwardian Era china painter.
Some of you may remember 'flower rings' from your great-grandmothers' time -- porcelain rings one could fill with water and put flowers in, then set around a bowl or centerpiece for a beautiful floral effect. This plate reminds us of these Century-old table ornaments, with its concentric rings forming a mint green frame, overlaid with lavish gold scrollwork that could be imagined as water. It looks as if perhaps someone has just started to arrange violet bouquets in the ring, with some 'strays' peeking out from underneath. The lavender tones and shadows of these flowers, along with the mint green of the ring portion and the sage green of the foliage, create a very restful tonal composition with great depth, pleasantly asymmetrical, that will make this piece a wonderful 'must have' addition to any floral collection.

'WHAT IS LIMOGES?' The Rosenquist Collection is often asked this question by visitors who are yet unfamiliar with this beautiful old artform upon vintage French porcelain. Over the last several generations, exquisitely hand painted porcelains became a somewhat forgotten artform, which is now gaining a world-wide appreciative audience once again, and is becoming very highly collectible as an arts & collectibles investment. The key to investment success, and also to acquiring the most beautiful collection, is to only invest in the very highest quality of artwork available, and to avoid anything less. This, in the long run, will give the greatest return on investment, as is true with all art and antiques investments. Inferior quality investments may cost less, but they always appreciate much less as well. With this in mind, interesting educational information regarding the DEFINITION OF LIMOGES, etc., may be found by performing an internet search engine keyword search of the following words: WIKI or WIKIPEDIA LIMOGES PORCELAIN. Additional internet information regarding COLLECTING antique hand painted Limoges china art may also be found by keyword searching the following words on any internet search engine: PAMELA WIGGINS LEARNING ABOUT LIMOGES. We hope this additional information may help new collectors and art investors make informed decisions when selecting and investing in the very finest examples of vintage Limoges Porcelain Art.
