Spectacular example of an early 1920's Art Deco incense burner or censor. Fabulous Flapper woman with definite Egyptian Revival influence holding the incense burner over her head. The base features a scrolling leafy foliate design with Greek Key designs around the sides. This is a favorite of ours, we've had her for a long time, she is in excellent condition and still has the cover for the incense burner, which is often missing. She has a bronze patina but she is not bronze. Her Flapper costume and headress is very detailed. She is marked Made In France and bears the importer's mark of Vantines. Vantines was a prolific importer of goods from around the world, which were sold in stores and thru the Vantine's catalog. This censor is pictured in the Collector's Guide To Art Deco, as being made by Art Metal Works. This large, immaculate piece measures 10" in length and stands 11" tall. Condition is excellent. Circa 1920.
