Exquisitely rare Art Deco black jet beaded Flapper headdress. A very rare beaded textile from the 1920's Flapper era. Long and elegant headdress of black French jet beads on a black hand netted ground. Larger, stylized Art Deco fleur de lis shaped jet beads hang from this piece like jewels in the sun, a gorgeous example. The headdress is finished with cascading V-shaped sides and back, which hang down past the shoulders. The back is finished with the same dangling fleur de lis shaped jet beads as those sewn along the sides and head. Smaller jet beads are sewn in a pattern on the head and sides. The sides and front are finished with dazzling, dangling fringe of round beads. Beaded fringe hangs from the front. This incredible headdress is in very good condition, with two small holes in the head part that could easily be closed with a stitch or two. There are a few loose threads hanging and some missing beads along the front, but overall, this gorgeous Flapper headress is in wonderful condition. A very rare find. Circa 1920.
