Specializing In Fine Porcelain, Limoges, Belleek, RS Prussia, Vanity Items & Smalls ~Layaway Available~
This beautiful RS Prussia dresser box is in a very scarce color for RS Prussia. Although they decorated with pink, to find the entire piece painted pink from the factory is rare. This looks like one of their Saxe Altenburg molds, these are very ornate, produced during the height of the Art Nouveau period, circa 1890-1900. This one has embossed flowers and a leaf embossed around the rim. The box has a very irregular, Art Nouveau shape with scrolling, gold highlights and delicate mauve, pink, and yellow baby rose bouquet decor. It is marked on the bottom with the raised RS in script. It unfortunately is not perfect, but we love it for it's rarity. There is chip underneath the lid where it fits into the box. You have to take the lid off and turn it over to see it, please see photo #7. Also in photo #7, you can see a notch on the left rim, we show it from the top in photo #6. It is underglaze so we believe it is from the factory, but it does look like a chip from underneath. There is also a fine hairline on the base, please see photo. The hairline is visible in photo #8 to the left of the base. If you can accept these flaws, this is an exquisite, rare example. It measures 5 1/2" in length and 3 1/4" wide. It stands 1 3/4" tall. Circa 1890.
