Beautiful bronze tray, large and impressive, with an outstanding reclining nude and cherub alongside a stream with cattails, all in high relief. The entire plaque or tray is molded as a lily pad, it's exquisite, very sensual, risque, really, especially for it's time. Likely French origin, no marks. It appears to depict the Forbidden Kiss, or Dream of Love. The tray measures 12 1/2 inches in length and 8 1/2 inches wide, making quite a statement, one of the largest bronze plaques we've seen and certainly the best. It weighs over 3 1/2 pounds! Excellent condition with no damage, circa 1890-1900.
