Majolica Art Nouveau Winged Sea Dragon Sleigh Centerpiece Bowl

Absolutely outstanding antique Art Nouveau Majolica sleigh centerpiece bowl, with a superb winged dragon and a bird as figureheads. The sleds of this piece are formed by sea serpents below ocean waves. The colors are very pleasing earthtones, perfectly complimenting the heavily scalloped, sky blue interior, which also has molded cutouts along the sides. There are embossed pink and yellow flowers with trailing stems and leaves around the sleigh and on the sleds. The sleds also have an embossed ribbon detail on them, with ornate openwork above and cutouts on the front. This majolica masterpiece is phenomenal, it measures a very large 12 inches in length and 4 1/4 inches wide. It is marked only with an incised number, 7175.12. It is in mint condition, except for a small factory flaw or flake on the bottom of one of the sleds, (please see picture, it is underneath the sleigh and does not even show when displayed) and for Majolica, this piece would without a doubt be considered to be in mint condition. This exquisite piece makes a show stopping display all by itself. We believe this to be French majolica. Circa 1890.
