Exquisite Haviland Limoges plate, hand painted with delicate salmon pink poppies against a blue and yellow backround. The poppies are gorgeous, painted with rich detail and accented with raised white enamel. The pretty scalloped edge is gilded with Roman gold and the rim is embellished with French gold work, beautiful gold scrolls, shells, raised gold beading, and raised, turquoise painted "jewels". The unusual designs on this piece almost look like little birds and fish, highlighted in lavender, apricot, and brown. Quite an unusual piece of hand painted French porcelain. Signed by the nineteenth century china painting artist, Harris, the piece is marked H&Co. L. France, (Haviland & Co. Limoges, France.) The plate measures 7 3/4" in diameter, just a snip smaller than the standard 8" plate, and packed with more fine quality details than usually seen. The piece is in excellent condition with no damage and absolutely no wear to the rich, lavish gold work or turquoise beads. The gold and turquoise beads are all intact with none missing. Circa 1900.
