Gorgeous Limoges hand painted fish charger wall plaque. Stunning, vibrant pair of fish, painted as they swim and cavort among underwater plants with ferny leaves. Extremely vibrant colors, from the blue and cobalt pair of fish with fiery orange pectoral fins to the ferny plant life in purple, red, yellow, and earthy tones, against a deep sea green backround with creamy yellow highlights. The elaborate Rococo edge of the charger has been heavily gilded with Roman gold. An exquisite piece, made all the more stunning with the very large portrait of fish instead of the smaller ones usually seen on French porcelain. Professional French studio decorated, the piece is marked Lazeyras, Rosenfeld, and Lehman, painted by a Limoges artist at the factory in France during the first quarter of the twentieth century. It is a true wall plaque with four factory drilled holes for hanging. The piece measures 10 1/4" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no damage. The gold is excellent, with the heavily gilded Rococo rim framing the fish beautifully. The plaque was made for display, not for use and so it is still as beautiful as the day it was painted. Circa 1920.
