Gorgeous Limoges powder jar with beautiful handpainted pink roses green leaves against a soft pastel lavender backround. Painted in pastels, this delicate and feminine powder jar is heavily gilded around the rim of the lid and rim of the jar, with yet another gilded band around the base of the jar. The gold is exquisite, without any wear. The powder jar is beautifully painted, signed with the artist's initials, AHY, and dated for 1897. It is marked with the Elite Limoges France mark. The powder jar is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. It is a superb 110 year old painting on porcelain, the pink center rose resembling a tree peony, surrounded by more pink roses, green leaves, and trailing stems. There is a another rosebud and leaves painted around the sides of the jar. The powder jar measures 5 1/2" in diameter, and stands 3 1/4" tall. There is no wear to the delicate painting, the artist has captured perfectly the beauty and depth of the roses with subtle shadings of light. A magnificent piece for the Victorian vanity or dresser.
