Outstanding French porcelain brooch painted with a garden of purple violets and a scrolling Art Nouveau gold painted frame, accented with lovely raised turquoise enamel painted "jewels". The gilding around the edge is lavishly outlined with raised French Rococo gold work, and tiny gold petals around the turquoise jewels, very finely done. The brooch measures 2" in diameter. The porcelain plaque is securely prong set with a brass back and very early clasp. An early Art Nouveau adornment, this piece dates to the late 1880's Victorian period. It is in excellent condition with no damage, easily one of the finest examples we have offered. We have more brooches available separately in our shop, which we show in the next to the last photo.
