Beautiful Victorian taille d'epargne gold filled hinged bangle bracelet. Very unusual design, this bracelet features a basket of flowers on both sides with a proliferation of beautiful scrolling flowers and leaves against a textured gold backround. The basket of flowers design was very popular with the Victorians, and was often used on various objects, up until the 1920's. We usually see these bracelets with geometric designs, so this one is very unusual. The hinge works perfectly and is marked Hayward Gold Filled. There is no safety chain, it appears there was one originally if you look very closely. The bracelet is in excellent condition, there is a spot of wear on the inside of the bracelet where it doesn't show when worn, it is inscribed Peggy inside the bracelet. The bracelet measures 2 1/2" inside diameter. A beautiful and unique piece, circa 1900.
