Exquisite Victorian oval porcelain brooch handpainted with lovely springtime forget-me-not flowers. The brooch is literally covered in blue forget-me-nots with yellow flower centers, nestled amid lush green trailing leaves and stems. The artist has painted a beautiful sky blue backround with hints of green, and streams of creamy yellow sunlight peeking thru in the center of the brooch. The porcelain oval plaque is substantial with a rounded edge, not a flat piece of porcelain, and is securely prong set with six brass prongs on a brass back to support it's weighty size. The artist has extended the painting along the sides of the brooch as well. Original C-clasp. This fabulous porcelain brooch dates to 1900 and is in pristine condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is no paint wear or scratches to take away from it's beautiful display, so often these porcelain jewels show some wear, but not this one. It measures 1 7/8" in length and 1 1/2" wide. Superb example in pristine condition, possibly French Limoges in origin, however it is unsigned. Looks magnificent when worn or displayed on your Victorian dresser or vanity. Circa 1890-1900. We have more brooches available separately in our shop, as shown in the next to the last photo.
