Gorgeous large Limoges porcelain belt buckle brooch painted with pink and red tea roses . Heavy gilt border featuring raised French scrolling gold work and framed inside a braided gilt setting. Belt buckle brooches were used by nineteenth century ladies' to adorn or fasten a belt. This is a very large one, measuring 2 3/4" in diameter. Excellent condition with no damage. Has an impressed mold mark on the back of the plaque and is signed by the artist. Circa 1890.
