This exquisite hand decorated Split Center Single Handle Comport (also sometimes referred to as a Sandwich, Bonbon Dish, Large Nappy or Dresser Vanity Tray) is signed by the talented late 19th century artist Buchert. It features an applied Gold Gilded Branch and Flower Handle and carved designs within the scalloped white ware porcelain body. This fine tray is carefully decorated with an icy thalo blue Forget-Me-Nots Motif. Each floral bouquet is defined though negative space (using the unpainted white porcelain as the color for the petals). The decoration is exceptionally detailed and finely executed. It is complemented with blushed hues of yellow/green and cool magenta running throughout the piece. The attractive design is carried out on the underside as well.

During the Victorian Era this wonderful dish was used during afternoon tea time to serve cookies, sandwiches, bonbons, and other delicious treats. In modern times, many fine ladies use it as a lovely addition to their dresser or boudoir table to hold fine jewelry and such.

Size: 11.00” long X 6.50” wide and is 3.00” tall at the Handle area.

Condition: Excellent- No Chips, Cracks, Or Repairs. There seems to be a small manufacturing flaw in the underside of the white ware where the glaze appears darker (see picts). Non-distracting but mentioned simply for accuracy sake.

Mark/ Age: Guerin (W.G. & Co) 1836-1900
