Antique Pietre Dure Marquetry 800 Silver Filigree Pin

For your consideration is this Antique Pietre Dure, Floral Bouquet Pin with 800 Silver Filigree Bezel. Likely made in the late 1800s, it is in wonderful condition with no damage to the stones and the bezel gorgeous. The pin on the back needs a little straightening, but this is not a problem, and is very common for pins of this age. The pin is marked 800 on the edge of the back. The pin measures 1-11/16”W x 1-3/8”H. The pietre dure face measures 1-5/16” x 1-1/16”.

Pietre Dure is Italian for Durable Stone, and is essentially Stone Marquetry. The technique dates back to 16th Century Rome, but was further developed later in the 16th century in Florence, Italy.
