Antiques : Whip And Cane Stand

 

A lovely old oak stand for holding canes and riding whips, this is Edwardian and in wonderful condition. All original, I purchased it in England and we've been using it as an accent piece in the office at our horse farm. It stands 24" tall, and 15" wide at the top, 10" wide at the base. Handily, it breaks down into several pieces for easy shipping, as I brought it home in my suitcase. A turned spindle at the top holds the cross piece with twelve openings. The cross piece in the center has six holes that hold whips without a lash, show and dressage crops. The base also has six holes that give support to longer canes and riding whips with lashes. Please look at all the photographs to see the detail on this quite unusual equestrian treasure. It's a delightful old piece that I am not keen to part with, but we are downscaling a bit at the farm, so I'm offering it here in my Ruby Lane shop before taking it to my next antique show. Please note that the whip and cane do not go with the piece, but I'll be adding them to my shop soon!
