Vintage pair of fox hunting prints, by Randolph Caldecott

This is an interesting pair of comedic fox hunting prints by Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886). Measuring 14.75" by 11.75", each is simply framed in what I think of as document frames, brown with an inner gold border. Take a look at the pictures, they show three huntsman who seem to have forgotten that they are supposed to be chasing foxes, and instead have turned up a pig and a cow. A delicate mat surrounds each print, and there is a short saying from Caldecott below each--"one said it was a fat pig" and "One said it was a bull-calf". The prints are in lovely condition, with soft colors and an unusual humorous quality. The frames have a bit of scuffing, but they remain quite presentable. A charming pair by a master illustrator, with intriguing riders and delightful horses.
