What a fabulous find, an English rowing trophy dating to 1886 from Emmanuel College in Cambridge. This large and stunning pewter cup was presented for Trial Eights and is beautifully engraved on both front and back. The handles are elaborate, the bottom is glass and the trophy has quite a few marks to the base, I've shown pictures of a few. L&F Cole, Cambridge is one mark, there is a bugle, the letters TW and the number 482. Standing 7" tall, it's 9" across at the handles, the base 4.75" in diameter. In lovely condition, a superb English trophy with historical significance.
