Made by Wolverine Supply in 1926, this old tinplate game board has fabulous lithography. Wonderful images of a race track, with early motor cars, the infield shows the gasoline station and the repair pit, along with a crowd of people waving flags. There is also a view of the grandstand, which is packed, and people standing along the rails of the track. There are two spinners on the board, both arrows are original and both twirl freely. Directions for the game are in another corner, with the Wolverine Supply information. One of the great tin game boards of the early twentieth century, with fabulous early automobiles, it was described in Wolverine's catalog as quality steel, and indestructible--I wonder if they imagined how collectible it would be 82 years later? This is a work of art, and would look fabulous on the wall, in a game room or a boy's bedroom. Measuring 16.5" square, with rounded corners, there is a colorful checkers or chess board on the reverse side. There is wear, mostly to the edges, some shallow dents, but nothing to take away from the superb graphics of this brilliant old piece.
