Antique cast iron frog, great old green paint

A terrific old frog in wonderful green paint, this cast iron guy is heavy, weighing in at over 5 pounds--aren't we lucky he will fit in a flat rate box! An old sale catalog I have shows this bull frog, identifying him as a doorstop. The information dates him to the early part of the 20th century, certainly 1920 or earlier, I would think. A somewhat naive casting, with an appealing primitive style, his old green paint is the perfect shade. While he's small in size, he's mighty in weight, so could easily hold open even the heaviest door. But I think he would look great in a garden setting, so in the last picture you can see how he looks outside in the sun. He's about 3" tall in front, to the top of his bulbous eyes and he's 5" from front to back, a bit over 4" from side to side. A nice early piece of cast iron, ready to decorate your porch or any shelf, what a paperweight for your desk top!
