Vintage sterling silver key chain, horseshoe and terrier dog

I've had this little sterling charmer for quite a while, with just a sketchy idea of what it might be, a fob of some sort, I thought. Now I've come across another, described as a Victorian keychain, and I see how it works. You slip the horse shoe part through your key, and hey presto, you've got a delightful old way to manage your keys! While I'm not going to say it is Victorian, it's certainly got good age to it, and it is beautifully done. The dog is a Terrier, most likely an Airedale, although I suppose it could be a Wire Fox Terrier. A sweet chain connects the dog to the horseshoe, which is quite detailed as well, and marked sterling on the reverse. Just under 4" from the dogs paws to the top of the horseshoe, the dog is about 1.25" wide. A most unusual old key chain!
