An unusual old brooch or pin, English of course, with an interesting equestrian motif. Three horse shoes are set upon a hunting whip, with the long lash entwined around the shaft. The handle of the whip is a horse leg, beautifully detailed, you can see the hair as it goes down to the hoof. The central shoe is larger, flanked by two smaller shoes. Silver in tone, with brass on the crop shaft and a brass backing, I can find no marks anywhere. There is a C clasp and a somewhat primitive hinge, attesting to its age, likely Victorian. There is a bit of the metal missing to the bottom of one of the smaller horseshoes, shown in a picture, this does not show, as you can see, when the pin is worn. I've given just the lightest of polish to this brooch, which measures a bit over 2" in length.
