Dating to the early part of the last century, this wonderful old plate has an image of an elegant woman, reins and whip in hand, driving her horse carriage. As you can see, the horse in this scene is implied, but there is no doubt about what our lovely lady is doing, she's about to set off for a drive. She wears an elaborate hat, stylish fur stole, and elbow length gloves on her delicate hands. Behind her another fur and across her legs a lap robe, the very image of a an accomplished equestrienne of the times. The plate is semi vitreous, made by W. S. George in the Radisson pattern, with a swirled and embossed edge decorated in gold, as is the inner rim. The image is transfer, an applied decal, and there is a bit of loss just near the woman's face. A small spot on the back side of the plate, which I've shown, most likely a firing flaw, and the gold is in remarkably good condition. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs, just a fantastic old plate for display, measuring 7" in diameter.
