A lovely and unusual set of bookends from Philadelphia Manufacturing Company, their PM Craftsman line. Solid and oh so heavy, they weigh a bit over 10 pounds for the pair. Done in beautiful relief, the brass plated bookends show a farrier or blacksmith at work in his forge. Our smithy holds his hammer raised above his head, ready to shape the horse shoe on his anvil. A fire burns in the brick forge at the back, while rows of horseshoes hang on the wall behind him. They measure 7" tall, a bit over 5" in width, with the relief work raised all over from the back of the bookends. Very minor wear to these 1970's beauties, a most difficult set to find, they display beautifully!
