From the famous Hubley company, renowned for their excellence in cast iron, these fabulous bookends with a Bedouin on his horse. Ready for battle, the Arab sits on his rearing horse, rifle raised overhead. Gorgeous detail on this set of bookends, as one would expect, crisp and sharp, they date to c. 1925. Standing 5.75" tall, and 5" across, they weigh nearly 5 pounds, so quite sturdy and substantial. The pair is in very good condition, cast iron with a beautiful bronze wash, a stunning patina. Marked on the reverse with the Hubley name and the number 314.
