REDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, horse and coaching scenes

$19 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, horse and coaching scenes

Collectibles:Tins
A colorful tin from the British firm of McVitie's, this tin likely dates to the early 1950's and held 1.5 pounds of family assorted biscuits. The hinged lid shows a busy street scene outside The George Inn with passengers embarking on the York to London stagecoach. A team of four horses waits to depart, with the three bays standing patiently while the gray horse paws impatiently, ready to be off. The sides of the tin are decorated with coaching and carriage scenes as well, with two of the sides ...
REDUCED Vintage advertising menu chalk board, Donald Duck

$84 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage advertising menu chalk board, Donald Duck

Collectibles:Advertising:Sign
What fun to find a menu board with an image of Donald Duck! The Mexican company of Pascual Boing was started in the 1940's and adopted the nautical duck as their logo. Apparently Disney tolerated it for decades, but finally put a stop to it, so the company has a new mascot. Donald is embossed on this sign, raised from the surface, as is the word Pascual. Below is the menu board, with its chalk black board. With bright and vibrant colors, the sign has been used, with some edge wear as shown and a ...
REDUCED Large vintage brass equestrian hanger, bridle rack, horse and rider

$59 USD ReducedREDUCED Large vintage brass equestrian hanger, bridle rack, horse and rider

Collectibles
A nice old piece from England, this is a large metal hanger featuring a gentleman rider on his horse. Lots of detail in this unusual item, made to hold the bridle of a horse. A strap at the top, done with a buckle in the design of a stirrup leather, leads down to a horseshoe shaped back, onto which is set a man on a horse, whip in hand. Depicting either fox hunting or a jockey on a race horse at full gallop, the hanger has a curve to it, to allow the top of the bridle to rest upon it. Although ...
REDUCED Antique German china mug with Greyhound dog image

$49 USD ReducedREDUCED Antique German china mug with Greyhound dog image

Collectibles:Decorative
I don't find as many Greyhound things as I would like, so it was fun to find this lovely old transfer printed porcelain mug on a recent trip. Bearing an old mark on the bottom that says Germany in green, it's in wonderful condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The Greyhound is in mid stride, and wears a red collar, standing on a field of green grass. The decal is strong and crisp, in excellent condition. The fancy handle and the rim are luster enhanced, and the cup has a lovely ...
REDUCED Vintage sterling silver horse head earrings

$14 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage sterling silver horse head earrings

Jewelry:Vintage:Silver, Sterling
This set of horse head earrings is marked sterling on the reverse, and they date to the 1930's-1940's period. The heads are set in a round border that is accented with four rope edged designs. The screw backs are in excellent working order, with the earrings measuring about one half inch round. A sweet set, I find these old earrings also look terrific on collar tips. All my jewelry arrives in a gift box.
REDUCED Vintage 1950's Boxer dog plaque on wood

$32 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage 1950's Boxer dog plaque on wood

Collectibles:Metal Dog Figurine
I thought that this old cast aluminum Boxer on wood truly exemplified the look of the breed. Noble, stately yet curious, with a hint of fun behind those deep set eyes and alert ears. Clean lines on this nice old piece, great detail, it is well cast and on a base of solid oak, done in relief. There is a hanger in the back, and it measures 7" in diameter. While there is no mark and no paper label, it looks very much like a Bruce Fox piece.
REDUCED Victorian sterling brooch or pin, dangling heart, English 1900

$84 USD ReducedREDUCED Victorian sterling brooch or pin, dangling heart, English 1900

Jewelry:Antique:Fine:Victorian
A "ribbon" beautifully tied into a bow holds the full, dangling heart on this English Victorian sterling silver brooch or pin. Lovely detail on this sweetheart brooch, so very feminine, what a token of love this is. Made in Birmingham, it is fully hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling, the anchor for Birmingham, the date letter a for 1900 and the makers mark for Payton, Pepper & Sons Ltd. Measuring 1.5" wide, it has a simple C clasp and it in is excellent condition.
REDUCED English biscuit tin, MacFarlane Lang candle box, c. 1911

$122 USD ReducedREDUCED English biscuit tin, MacFarlane Lang candle box, c. 1911

Collectibles:Tins
Manufactured by Barringer, Wallis and Manners c. 1911, this is one of those fabulous old biscuit tins designed with a secondary use once the cookies were eaten. Known as Wall Box, it was made for MacFarlane Lang and it's a replica of an antique candle box. It's made to hang on the wall, if desired, with a flat back and two brackets on the reverse. According to manufacturers catalogue, it is made of "genuine oxydized coppered plate" and it's beautifully embossed with varying scenes of country ...
REDUCED Vintage cowboy figurine, match or toothpick holder, occupied Japan

$32 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage cowboy figurine, match or toothpick holder, occupied Japan

Collectibles:Match Holder
Isn't this a cute cowpoke? Toting his six gun with his hat pushed back on his head, he's ready for business. And with the barrel next to him, his business could be holding matches or toothpicks for you. Standing 4.25" tall, he's in great old shape, no chips, cracks or repairs, just a handsome fellow with nice paint. Marked on the bottom "Made in occupied Japan" so we know he's been around for a while. Too cute.
REDUCED Vintage figural kitten baby's hot water bottle, boxed, BF Goodrich

$29 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage figural kitten baby's hot water bottle, boxed, BF Goodrich

Collectibles
Well, I promised you fun and funky, and this baby's hot water bottle in the shape of a kitty cat certainly qualifies! In its original box, made by the BF Goodrich Company, it's rubber with a plastic, possibly bakelite stopper, and it does still hold water, I tested it. The kitten has little paws and feet and is dressed in a jacket with a big collar, an elaborate bow at his neck, with a hole at the bottom for hanging him to dry. He has a bit of discoloration, as you can see, but no damage, or ...
REDUCED Vintage De Gruyter Cacao tin, tropical images

$42 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage De Gruyter Cacao tin, tropical images

Collectibles:Tins
A delightful tin from the Dutch company De Gruyter's, no longer in business. This colorful tin has different scenes on the lid and all four sides showing the cacao tree, it's cultivation and harvesting. Cacao of course, is used in the making of chocolate--how perfect that it's scientific name is Theobroma, or "food of the gods." Fabulous tropical images with rich color make this tin a standout. With a hinged lid, it measures 3" wide, 4.5" across and stands 3" tall. Dating to the 1920's-1930's ...
REDUCED Vintage 1930's pyrography plaque, horses, mare and foal

$29 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage 1930's pyrography plaque, horses, mare and foal

Collectibles:Folk Art:Pyrography
The last of the Dibble pyrography pieces I will be listing, this one features a mare with her foal, and is entitled "Baby Rosemont." Originally priced at 25 cents, it was made by the Harry Ungar Company of Los Angeles, and advertised in their catalog as ready stamped, an original design of the Dibble Studio, ready for color burning. The mare ad her foal stand under a tree, near a fence in a large pasture. Great detail, nice texture, with just a bit of paint loss here and there. Measuring 9.5" by ...
REDUCED Delightful vintage figurine, three puppy dogs

$29 USD ReducedREDUCED Delightful vintage figurine, three puppy dogs

Collectibles:Decorative
A sweet little figurine, I just couldn't resist these pups, with their enchanting expressions. Marked Japan on the base, this pottery piece is quite heavy for its size and very well done. The dogs are on a base which has painted gilt scroll work with some age wear. I must admit I've no idea as to age, but it is obviously an older piece. There is a hairline to the center dog, which you can see in picture 4, I didn't notice it until I looked at the pictures. It's 5" long, just under 3.5" tall and ...
REDUCED Antique British house shaped biscuit tin, dog and cat

$64 USD ReducedREDUCED Antique British house shaped biscuit tin, dog and cat

Collectibles:Tins
A nice early house shaped tin from England, this was manufactured by Hudson, Scott & Sons of Carlisle c. 1910. It's a sweet little half timbered house, with a peaked "thatched" roof which is hinged, the hinges in good working order. The tin is decorated on all four sides, with the front of the tin showing a chimney in the roof. A white cat is at the door of the cottage, and a dog, a terrier of some type, has come calling. I'm not sure it is a happy meeting! The sides of the tin show the sides of ...
REDUCED Vintage metal sign, carnival or fairground game

$40 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage metal sign, carnival or fairground game

Collectibles:Advertising:Sign
Another of the fun old carnival signs that I recently purchased, this one is made of metal. 24.5" by 17.5". Brightly painted in red, yellow and blue, it's obviously from a toss it and hit it game, as it says "Break 3 wins choice." And of course, there are the admonishments like "No Leaning" and "Limit one prize per person." Even at the fair, they have rules! For some reason, the black $1.00 per play looks faded on one side, but it isn't, just my pictures. Wear, as you can see, just attesting to ...
REDUCED Vintage tin child's tea set tray, kittens, cats

$59 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage tin child's tea set tray, kittens, cats

Collectibles:Trays
Four darling kittens stare out from this old tin tray, orange tabbies with big blue eyes. They are posed together, all watching something in front of them that is giving them a bit of concern. Marked foreign, this was made for the British market, and produced in Japan, possibly Germany. Because of its size, I'm confident it was part of a tin tea set. Measuring 11" by 8.5", it's in nice condition for its age, which is 1950's. Some bumps and a slight wave to the sides, the lithograph is colorful ...
REDUCED Vintage Chein tin sand pail, children and animals at the zoo

$64 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage Chein tin sand pail, children and animals at the zoo

Collectibles:Sand Pails
Another colorful old tin sand pail made in the 1950's by the Julius Chein Company, this one featuring a charming zoo scene. A continuous image of children at the zoo wraps around this old pail, which is in lovely condition for its age. The animals are lined up on one side of the fence, with the little boys and girls on the other side. We see an elephant, two giraffes, a pair of lions (they are in a cage, but smiling happily!) and a parrot. A little Spaniel dog stands in front of the elephant, he ...
REDUCED Vintage double deck playing cards, Arabian horses

$29 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage double deck playing cards, Arabian horses

Collectibles:Playing Cards
A double deck of Congress playing cards, this set features two Arabian Horse Stallions. Unopened, the decks are boxed and still sealed in cellophane. The stallions are magnificent, both shown in a rearing position. The bay horse, Zarabo, was US National Champion Stallion in 1968, and Serris, the gray, was a well known show horse from that era. While unopened, it's obvious that the decks slide out on a tray at the bottom. What a fun find for the Arabian Horse lover!
REDUCED Vintage artist signed postcard, black Chow Chow dog

$8 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage artist signed postcard, black Chow Chow dog

Postcards:Animals
Made in Switzerland, this old postcard features a gorgeous black Chow Chow. He looks to be quite a sober lad, doesn't he, with his oh so serious expression. I thought this was unusual, as it was a black, instead of the more typical red Chow. Signed J. Rivst, it has a divided back and is postally unused, in quite excellent condition.
REDUCED Vintage British candy tin, spinning Wheel of Fortune

$115 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage British candy tin, spinning Wheel of Fortune

Collectibles:Tins
This is a fun old novelty tin made for Birrell's of Glasgow, a confectionery company which opened in the early 1900's. An octagonal shaped tin, it features a spinning wheel of fortune game--spin the wheel on the lid and find out if she loves you or loves you not! The sides of the tin show the rich man, the poor man, the beggar man, and the thief, along with the tinker, the tailor, the soldier and the sailor. Will she marry me? The whirling lid tells the tale, she will, she won't and--horrors- ...
REDUCED Vintage painted wood towel rack, charming terrier dogs

$42 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage painted wood towel rack, charming terrier dogs

Collectibles:Dog Rack
Country Home magazine listed hand made dog items one of the top ten collectibles for the year. And here we have a wonderful example, a charming old hand made towel rack with two sweet dogs. They are terriers, possibly Scotties, although the rack is painted white, and they have red bow around their necks. And little red tongues with big black eyes and black noses as well. The rack measures 16" across at its widest, and it's 10.75" tall, with the hanging bar raised about an inch from the surface. ...
REDUCED Vintage pair of fox hunting prints, by Randolph Caldecott

$64 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage pair of fox hunting prints, by Randolph Caldecott

Collectibles:Framed Artwork
This is an interesting pair of comedic foxhunting prints by Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886). Measuring 14.75" by 11.75", each is simply framed in what I think of as document frames, brown with an inner gold border. Take a look at the pictures, they show three huntsman who seem to have forgotten that they are supposed to be chasing foxes, and instead have turned up a pig and a cow. A delicate mat surrounds each print, and there is a short saying from Caldecott below each--"one said it was a fat ...

$42 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage 5 piece bakelite carving set, faux stag horn handles

They are marked Flint Stainless Vanadium, USA and all five pieces are in excellent condition. A quality carving set, just look at the impressive ...
REDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, Easter images, bunnies and lambs

$39 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, Easter images, bunnies and lambs

Collectibles:Tins
Here's a cheery Skribbans Kemp British biscuit tin, made for the Easter market, most likely in the 1950's. The bright yellow tin has a sweet shape and is decorated in an all over pattern of bunny rabbits, baby chicks, frisky lambs and Easter eggs. There is the remnant of the paper label, which says it held Table Fingers, easily removed if you would prefer with Goo Gone. It stands 4" tall and it's 3.5" in diameter at the base, with a nicely curved shape. Obviously treasured over the years, it has ...
REDUCED Antique bridle rosette, fox hunter on horse, pin or brooch

$44 USD ReducedREDUCED Antique bridle rosette, fox hunter on horse, pin or brooch

Jewelry:Vintage
These rosettes were made to adorn a horse's bridle, back in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This one has been made into a pin, and shows a red coated foxhunter taking a fence on his horse, whip in hand. With a good green background, with a bit of iridescence, it's a striking piece at 1.75" in diameter. My photographs make it look a bit grainy, because of the close ups, but it isn't at all. These are lovely on a lapel or at the throat of a blouse, wonderful on a velvet ribbon around the neck ...
REDUCED Vintage 1930's candy tin, lady with hunting dogs

$27 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage 1930's candy tin, lady with hunting dogs

Collectibles:Tins
What a fun old tin, showing a lady bringing home the bacon, or in this case, the turkey. Our smiling, happy huntress is surrounded by her Setter dogs, one Pointer is on a new scent, and she holds a turkey that she has bagged under one arm, a shotgun in the other. Great fall colors on this tin, which dates to the 1930's. A house or church in the background, our woman stands on the edge of a lake, with the logo for Andes Candies of Chicago to one side. The round tin has a lift off lid, and it is 8 ...
REDUCED Child's vintage rocking horse chair

$155 USD ReducedREDUCED Child's vintage rocking horse chair

Collectibles:Rocking Horse
What a darling little child's rocking chair this is, and a lovely piece of furniture, as well. From front to back, the rockers are 35" long, and the chair is 12.5" wide and about 20" tall to the top of the back seat. There are traces of red paint on all the rockers, and a sweet stenciled swan on the chair seat. I've shown this charming rocking horse chair from all angles, so that you can see for yourself the workmanship and detail. It's sturdy and in excellent condition for it's age, which I ...
REDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, snowy winter scenes, coaching and horses

$49 USD ReducedREDUCED Vintage English biscuit tin, snowy winter scenes, coaching and horses

Collectibles:Tins
What a terrific old tin, and one that I have never had before. Dating to the 1930's or so, the tin is quite large, standing 5" tall and measuring 6.25" by 8.25". The tin celebrates English country life in winter, with snow scenes all around the four sides, and a delightful coaching scene on the lid. Four gray horses pull the coach full of passengers from the courtyard of the Inn. The street scene includes a dog excitedly barking at the carriage, and one of the horses appears to shy away. People ...
REDUCED Antique tin tray, still life with fruit

$40 USD ReducedREDUCED Antique tin tray, still life with fruit

Collectibles:Trays
This is an early tin tray, dating to the early part of the 1900's, nicely lithographed. A wicker basket is overflowing with luscious fruit, apples and pears and grapes and oranges. I even see a banana! Measuring 11" by 16", it has a curled lip and sloping sides, about an inch deep. There is, as you can see, some litho loss, and I've shown you a close up of it. But still I found this old tray so attractive, with vivid colors and a wonderful design, and the damage is reflected in the price.
REDUCED Antique Victorian alphabet puzzle strips, Ibis

$32 USD ReducedREDUCED Antique Victorian alphabet puzzle strips, Ibis

Collectibles:Victorian Puzzle
These wonderful old puzzle strips date to Victorian times, they were a fun method of teaching the alphabet to children. Beautiful examples of early chromolithography, they look wonderful when framed, especially when separated a bit, and floated on a complimentary mat. They are fabulous for a child's room. This one shows an Ibis, a large bird with a long curved beak. He is shown among the reeds on a shoreline, obviously in Egypt, as there are Pyramids in the background. Each strip measures 7" by ...
