I don't find as many Greyhound things as I would like, so it was fun to find this lovely old transfer printed porcelain mug on a recent trip. Bearing an old mark on the bottom that says Germany in green, it's in wonderful condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The Greyhound is in mid stride, and wears a red collar, standing on a field of green grass. The decal is strong and crisp, in excellent condition. Dating to the early part of the last century, this wonderful old plate has an image of an elegant woman, reins and whip in hand, driving her horse carriage. As you can see, the horse in this scene is implied, but there is no doubt about what our lovely lady is doing, she's about to set off for a drive. A sweet little figurine, I just couldn't resist these pups, with their enchanting expressions. Marked Japan on the base, this pottery piece is quite heavy for its size and very well done. The dogs are on a base which has painted gilt scroll work with some age wear. I must admit I've no idea as to age, but it is obviously an older piece. This was a fun find, an old brass crumb set, with a dog head adorning the handle of the brush. A hound, most certainly, and I believe a Bloodhound, such a serious expression! Made in England, and so marked, dating to the 1920's most likely, or a bit earlier, it's made of brass with natural bristles to the brush. The brush rests on the tray, which has an ornate top and a rest that holds it perfectly on the table. The dog brush measures 7.75" from bristles to ring at the top.
