Ah, the simpler times when women could carry all they needed around their neck. This incredible carnet du bal or aide memoire is heart shaped. It is made of mother of pearl with an art nouveau sterling heart adorning it. The 5 leaves inside are made of ivory. On the first leaf, you can just make out the faintly written date 1902, with some words above it. The dealer I got this from told me that it says Buffalo Exhibition, 1902. That could be the famous Buffalo Bill Cody Exhibition. It is marked sterling on the back of the bale. It is in excellent condition save one tiny chip to the MOP on the edge of the back cover. The heart itself, including bale is 1.5 x 1 /8 inches, the sterling chain is 22 inches long.
