This etching by Margaret Ann Gaug is entitled 'Nicki'. It is of a little girl in a short, fancy dress leaning against an iron fence. She is wearing a large bow atop her head and striped socks.

It is framed in its original black frame that is stamped on the back MARGARET ANN GAUG 1909 Irving Park Rd Chicago 13, Illinois GR-7-2283 The frame measures 13.75" x 9.5" and the visible image is approximately 7" x 3.5".

Margaret Ann Gaug (1909-1983) was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and the Prairie Printmakers of California and Illinois. Her exhibitions included the Chicago Society of Etchers and a solo show in 1941 at the Smithsonian Institution. Margaret Ann Gaug, was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and the Prairie Printmakers of California and Illinois. She is known for her decorations, illustrative art, as well as her etchings. Gaug first began to exhibit her art in 1945. After, she illustrated books and designed greeting cards. She won awards from the Chicago Society of Etchers in 1950 and 1955. Several major institutions, now include Gaug’s etchings in their permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Brussels Museum of Fine Arts, Belgium, the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
