This downtown Chicago cityscape was created by artist, George Yelich (probably in the 1960’s). The media that he chose to capture the fast pace of downtown Chicago were watercolors and ink. He chose to use muted neutrals such as rust and browns alongside more vibrant greens and yellows. The exquisite renderings and use of color keeps your eye moving from the sky, to the water tower, to the foot and cab traffic on the street. George Yelich is a noted Chicago artist and in 1910 was commissioned to paint an exterior view at Dearborn station downtown. There is slight damage to the top of the backing paper, and there is George Yelich printed in pencil on the back as well. The dimensions of the black wooden frame are 15.75”Hx 13.75”W and the inner window is 8”x10”.
