A charming antique late 19th century glass trinket or patch box hand painted with raised gilt enamel flowers. Smooth hinged metal mounts circle the box with an S shaped clasp at the center. This box was most likely made by Moser or of Bohemian origin. Has an old paper label at the base. In good antique condition with no chips or cracks. Measures about 2 1/2" diameter x 1 3/8" tall.

Patch boxes were often used to store small fake beauty spots, very fashionable between the 18th and 19th centuries. These bright colorful boxes, made either from glass or enameled over metal, were often given as a sign of love or friendship, and were very decorative. What a perfect gift or addition to any collection!
