Antique Bohemian Enamel Cobalt Glass Trinket Box

A lovely antique hinged trinket or patch box of rich cobalt blue glass hand painted with raised enamel flowers with the lower section embellished by a ring of white dots or 'jewels'. Smooth metal mounts circle the box with an S shaped clasp at the center. This box was most likely made by Moser. In good antique condition with no chips or cracks. Measures about 1 7/8" diameter x 1 3/8" tall.

Patch boxes were often used to store small fake beauty spots, very fashionable between the 18th and 19th centuries. These bright colorful boxes, made either from glass or enameled over metal, were often given as a sign of love or friendship, and were very decorative. What a perfect gift or addition to any collection!
