A magnificent 19th century French cut crystal casket surrounded by exquisite dore bronze mounts and housing two ormolu mounted glass scent or perfume bottles. What a find! An old unsiged Baccarat. The casket is beautifully decorated in an all over cut pattern consisting of diamond points and buttons, composed of luminous clear and quality crystal! Heavy dore bronze mounts surround the box, with a twisted rope motif along the band and hinge, two handles in the form of twisting vines, an elaborate escutcheon lock and key, and resting on four feet in the figural form of a stylized leaf atop a twisting vine. Lots of decor on this piece, all done in fine detail with superb craftsmanship!
The lid opens to reveal a fitted cage work interior supporting a pair of glass perfume bottles topped by ornate, gilt ormolu hinged lids and stylized collars, each maintaining their original stoppers.
The box, including the feet, measures 6 1/4" in length x 5 1/8" in height x 4 1/2" in width. Bottles measure 3 1/2" in height x 2 1/4" in diameter at the base.
Working lock and key! The box is in great condition for its age with a couple of fleabite nicks hidden by the pattern.
