A stunning antique 19th century French silver & gilt vermeil 15-piece tea service set; complete and housed in the original blue satin lined presentation box. The set comprises of twelve spoons; a pair of sugar tongs tipped by ‘gothic’ clawed lion paws; an elaborate tea strainer in a floral motif and an leaf- shaped tea caddy spoon. Each piece is absolutely lovely, decorated with finely engraved accents and embellished by an applied stylized central medallion fitted with a cartouche, empty of any monogram and perfect to get engraved with your own initials.
Each piece is hallmarked with the French Minerve 2nd titre mark, designating .800/1000 silver content. Also bearing marker’s marks initials of PQ, for Parisian Silversmith Eugène Queillé, circa 1847, of 8 petite rue Saint-Roch-Poissonniére,..Successor and son of Pierre Queille (1834-1846).
Overall in good condition for its age: the set is complete and in the box. There is a bit of vermeil wear to some of the raised areas of the decoration on the silver. The presentation box shows wear commensurate with age and use.
Please see photos for measurements. Total weight of the silver is 307.3 g.
