An extraordinary antique 19th century French scent caddy, with serpentine shaping, magnificently decorated at the lid with an intricate floral and garden theme marquetry inlay. Inlaid escutcheon with working lock and original key. The interior housing three cut crystal Baccarat perfume bottles, each decorated by a gilded pattern of starbursts about the necks, original stoppers and polished pontil bases. A paper label identifies the scents to each bottle" Verveine, Bouquet de Nice and Violette.

In good condition. A few thin hairlines to the exterior wood veneer commensurate with age, slight gap when closed and there is a crack to the wood at the very bottom of the base. No missing inlay to the lid, however there is a small piece missing from the escutcheon keyhole. One bottle has a chip to the edge of the rim.

Measures 5 7/8" in length x 3 3/8" in width x 3 3/4" in height.
