Victorian Moser Hand Painted Enameled Glass Hinged Patch Box

A stunning antique 19th century Moser hinged glass patch box in a charming apple green color surrounded by hand painted raised gold enamel scrolls and florals. Smooth brass mounts surround the box with an S shaped clasp. In very good condition for its age with some light enamel wear from use. The glass box measures about 2 1/4" in diameter and about 1 3/8" tall.

Patch boxes were often used to store small fake beauty spots, very fashionable between the 18th and 19th centuries. These bright colorful boxes, made either from glass or enameled over metal, were often given as a sign of love or friendship, and were very decorative. What a perfect gift or addition to any collection!
