A base of flat cut crystal, framed by a reticulated border as well as four ornate feet, supports a pair of crystal inkwells and a pen-rest. Both hinged ormolu lids are decorated in a raised relief pattern of acanthus leaves topped by figural artichoke finals. Along the base of the inkwells is a frieze of laurel leaf wreaths and an inscription of "Mir et Cottereau" circles the inner rims. The pen-rest is beautifully decorated with a central reticulated piece of scrolling florals and other Empire styling.
Overall, in very good condition. Some staining to the interior lids from past ink use as well as darkening to the metal commensurate with age.
Measures 7 3/4" wide, 10 1/8" in length and 5 1/2" in total height.
