A stunning antique 19th century French Sevres porcelain wall plate or charger surrounded by a gilt gesso wooden frame embellished in scrolling vines. The plate is accented in gilt décor on a Sevres blue background with a central portrait. The portrait is beautifully painted in tiny brush-strokes of bright, vivid colors and depicts a lady in a pink gown with a guitar in her hand as a gentleman in colorful attire tries to reach for it! All the while a Pierrot clown overlooks the pair. Signed Pary or similar. Marked at the back with a pair of Louis-Phillippe marks for 1846 and 1847. Also with a red mark for Château de Dreux.
In wonderful condition with light wear to the gilt commensurate with age as well as an old chip to the rim on the base.
Measures 13 ¾” in diameter with the frame.
