19c French Miniature Ivory Portrait Painting Ladies Playing Cards

A superb 19th century French miniature portrait hand painted on ivory depicting three ladies at a game of cards. The colors are vivid and painted with the tiniest of brush strokes, all the while the detail is exceptional, there is even a small scenery painted on a lady’s fan! There appears to be a signature at the edge, however it is difficult to decipher.

Housed in an ornate gilt bronze frame topped by a laurel wreath final, the portrait is beautifully displayed under glass and surrounded by a matting of sage green velvet. Has a small loop at the back for hanging on the wall and a metal easel for tabletop display. In wonderful condition for its age. Some wear to the old fabric that surrounds the back of the frame. The ivory portrait measures 2 3/8" in diameter. The bronze metal frame measures 5" in height, including the top of the final, and 3 3/4" in width.
