A delightful Victorian visiting or calling card case covered with luminous mother of pearl inlay etched / engraved with scrolling floral motifs and a central bird pictorial. Absolutely spectacular iridescence to the pearl and beautiful detail to the engravings. Has a push-button closer and good hinge, closes properly with a nice 'click'. Circa. 1880. In good condition for its age with two chips to the mother of pearl-one is located at the top most panel with the silver cartouche plate. The other is a small sliver of pearl missing from corner of the panel inlaid above the bird pictorial. The case measures about 3 1/2" in height by about 2 1/2" in width.
