A gorgeous antique 19th century gilt bronze jewelry casket adorned with a miniature portrait on ivory that possibly depicts Henriette-Anne de Bourbon, one of the eldest daughters to Louis XV. The miniature is beautifully hand painted, using tiny brush strokes of bright and vivid colors. At the back is the name Henriette de Bourbon and the painting is signed Yanny or similar and housed under glass.
The bronze box is serpentine shaped and ornately decorated in raised scroll appliques as well as other neoclassical motifs such as minute beading and floral garlands and swags. The lid opens to revel a dark green velvet material lining the interior.
The whole piece is in very good condition for its age with some wear to the velvet fabric. The portrait measures 1 7/8" diameter. The box measures 4 3/4" in length, about 3 3/4" in width and about 1 5/8" in height.
