A rare and large antique 19th century crystal inkwell topped with German silver mounts and lid. An absolutely gorgeous and massive piece! Thick and heavy cut crystal base is beautifully decorated with a swirling motif and a 24-point deeply cut starburst adorns the very bottom of the inkwell. A repousse decor of rocailles and scrolling foliate surrounds a large central cartouche on the front of the hinged lid. Marked with German hallmarks including the 800 and the crescent moon & crown. In very good condition, with normal surface wear to the bottom. The piece measures 5 3/8" in height and 3 1/2" square.
