Large antique French cut crystal jewelry casket in a unique oval shape. The whole piece is decorated in a beveled diamond pattern known as 'strawberry diamonds'. These types of cut crystal boxes are our favorites and they're getting harder and harder to find! Most likely an old unsigned Baccarat, this piece is magnificent with stunning crystal, clear and illuminating just beautifully when held to the light. At the bottom is a deeply cut 16-point starburst. Surrounding the box is a band of ornate gilt ormolu mounts decorated in a scrolling floral motif with a large ribbed escutcheon lock at the center.

The crystal box, alone, weighs almost 3 pounds and measures 4 3/4" in height, 5 1/2" in length and 3 1/4" in width. In wonderful condition for its age: Lacking the key. Some dark spots to the gilt metal from age as well as a couple of light surface scratches to the bottom from display and use.
